Great series, just one problem for me, they are nearly all taller than my (1080px) screen height - and I have a fairly decent 23" 1920 x 1080px monitor, some people may only have 1680 x 1050px screens, or less still, especially if a laptop.

This has two effects;
I can see the whole image, but not at 100%, so it looks soft, or
I can see the image at 100%, but then I get uneven borders, or even have to scroll up and down to see it all.

That's why I recommend that an image is downsized to no more than 1000px tall whatever its orientation, before posting.

If it is landscape orientation, then up to 1600px wide is acceptable (and fits TinyPic), but still no more than 1000px tall is wise - and remember - this must be the finished size after any borders have been applied.

Sorry for the mini-rant, it is a message I constantly push - and it is for the member's benefit.



These are stunning quality and sharpness (at 100%) - I don't think I have seen a bird like #2, looks very 'pre-historic'.

Good use of fill flash on many too.

#3 or #6 are good, but I think #2 is my favourite.

The only purpose I was uploading images with sizes a little bigger than 1000 (H) x 1600 (W) was because I believe most people nowadays have full HD monitors and, thus, would better view the images on their screens. So, I was using the Irfanview predefined size for image downsize (1920 x 1080). Anyway, I understand your point and it is nothing more than a site rule (I found that it is mentioned on "How do I post images"). So, there was no intention of breaking any rule, from my part. Thus, I wont exceed the size from now on. Thanks for alerting me about that.

No rules broken
It is, as you say, only guidance, but work as good as yours shouldn't be compromised.

If you look at the finished sizes above, although many are no greater than 1600 wide, the heights with borders are often between 1300 and 1500px tall - and that's not gonna fit on even a full HD monitor.
