These are all great, Joe! I especially like the first one - it is practically monochrome except for the bird's stilts...er...I mean legs.
Hi Joe,
Another good series.
#3 is my favourite - because it isn't just standing there, but they're all good.
Cheers,
Very nice detail & catching the various poses. - One issue: I'd add some space to the left of each image, where the bird looks/walks to.
Beautiful series as usual.
My apology to all who commented on these images for my lack of a timely response, I have read your comments which I greatly appreciated. I became involved in a project regarding my house and have not been active in the forum for a few days, but now I am back.
Hi Joe.
You're very good a bird shots. I like #1, but wondered if it would look more artistic if you extended the white on the top and left sides so the bird and his reflection would be more so in lower right corner. I think by adding the white - or as they say - adding more negative space would improve this image overall as being a piece of art.
In #3, it looks like you put a vignette around the bird. I'm not 100% certain, but if you did, I wonder if it would look any better if you dialed back the vignette just a bit. May not help at all. Don't know until you try.
Why are these so good?
I think ..................
- The compositions are superb. I think the bird is placed in exactly the right place in each image.
- Seeing that the reflection is as much part of the image as the bird and giving it equal prominence.
- Giving plenty space around the bird. It's not cropped in tight (which would probably be an okay wildlife image of a bird). Instead this is bridging across wildlife and fine art; i.e. it's making fine art out of wildlife photography.
I love the pose and reflection in 3
