    We've thought of go on that part of the lake in our canoe launched from our land. But I've still got the issue of having to get permission to go ashore unless I want to actually shoot from the canoe.

    Apologies but I don't have time atm to read the whole thread. Off the top of my head, assuming you don't have access to the land on the other side, for at least one version, I'd take the position of #2 and use a telephoto to extract just the barn and show nothing else. (and do it at sunset or sunrise for the nice light). Sorry for the brief response and possibly repeating what others have said

    Thanks Matt and everyone for your replies. It's been raining for a few days and will probably continue into the next week so it will be weeks before it is dry enough for me to get back to this. I'll post results if I'm able to continue the project.
