Fences and Telegraph Poles

I did quite a lot of winter (snow) images a couple of years ago and couldn't really get motivated to do more snow scenes this winter. But, since we've still got snow on the ground .............!

This image came pretty quickly into my head one I saw the scene (it's just a couple of hundred yards/metres from my front door). Without the snow it's a nothing scene, in photographic terms. But with the snow it struck me as providing a wonderful set of lines and shapes created by those lines. I wanted to get a bleakness/starkness into it.

I needed to crank up the ISO I order to get a reasonable shutter speed. I needed that because of the high wind that was causing me to have extremely cold fingers!

What do you think?

I think it's okay but not inspiring like most of your other images. You might want to try keeping it simpler by limiting the composition to the fences. That would require digitally eliminating a couple telephone poles but would make for a more striking image in my mind.

yup, look like telegraph poles to me! perspective looks a little high to me Donald, are your knees getting rickety???

I do like the lines and shapes created by both the telegraph poles and the fence. I also like the footprints in the snow. Where did they come from and where are they going? And, I also get a sense of the bleakness you mentioned.

Yes is the answer to that, but is not the reason for how I set this up. In fact, I was on my knees on the snow and lower down, but that didn't work. And, yes, I got wet!

If you go lower, then the old fenceposts at the left cut across the fence running along the bottom of the poles. I need that fence line to be uncluttered. That's why I went a bit higher. I see that the old fence post second from the left is cutting in to that fence a bit, but I think that's okay.
