Little Green Heron...
Yesterday I posted a Great Blue Heron with chicks, today it is the little cousin of the Great Blue. This heron lurks in the shadows just above the level of the water. Friday my wife and I walked a trail we had not been on before. The trail separated a small pond and a canal. About 20 feet across the canal Mangrove bushes grow, in the lower branches were Little Green Heron. The sun was shining over our shoulders lighting up the shadow that the Mangrove's cast... wonderful for finding and photographing these little guys. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

The detail in the first one is wonderful. I like the pose in the second one best. I think I got a few shots of one of these yesterday on the coast of Texas. I've not processed or identified all I took yet. Hoping I have one turn out half as good. It's nice to have access to more than just the Great Blue...

Well done, Joe. Nice and sharp detail. Not the easiest bird either. One of my favorites tho. BTW...you have captured fantastic seperation in the colors of this little guy. In not such nice light they can tend to look all the same color or close.
