To me it's an abstract about light, tone, shape, texture and colour. And the portrait format, for me, concentrates attention more on those elements.
For me, landscape. I can see the image of a sheep looking back at me. Very surreal.
Portrait for me, though I would crop some off the top. I keep wishing there was more space to the left, but of course I have no idea if the stuff to the left might ruin the image.
Hi Gary,
How about square?
I am unable to tick the "I don't like either" option, but with the portrait version I want to see more either side and with the Landscape version I want to see the bit you cropped off the lower edge, but I like both
I accept there may be a reason why you cannot do that framing though.
It feels a bit like a model mountain range to me and if you had some of those little scenic model rail-road figures (about 1/2" high) in climbing poses (and some cotton thread), you could place a few in shot and make a diorama
(might need to remove some of the seaweed though)
Nice light.
HTH,
I think you might have a problem seeing rail road figures as the scene is taken across the quarry and the "seaweed" is actually heather beds.
I think you may have hit a nail on the head though, it perhaps needs something to give it scale.
Hmmm.. I have to vote to be able to see the poll. I'll have to put "don't like either" to avoid scewing the results.
If you are trying to accentuate the "camel head" (that's what it looks like to me!) then vertical. If the shot is about the colours and texture then the horizontal.
Wayland how about a pan taken in portrait you then get the best of both words, if you are not sure.
Cheers:
Allan
Actually I hadn't noticed the "head" until Debs mentioned it.
Now I can't look at it without seeing it..
I prefer the flow of the lines of the elements in the landscape view. Probably just aesthetics, however the large yellow bit doesn't interest me as much as the colour and shapes in the ridgelines, of which there are more in the landscape view.

Is there a reason Im not able to see the pictures?
Is this some elaborate belated April Fools prank?
They should be there..
Have you checked your settings?
Landscape. The portrait seems a little cramped/truncated to me
Great colors. Looks like an interesting spot. I like a square, cropping off the left. Focus shifts to the "waterfall".

Portrait. I would crop the top and the left side leading up to the edge of the yellow rock, in the portrait mode.
It's interesting that the poll is absolutely level pegging.
helps me realise why I am having so much trouble making my mind up.
