I like the elements in the Laphroag shot. The background is much nicer to my eye.

I didn’t get which lens you are using, though I did see it was shot @ 18mm. Does it look to you that there is some distortion occurring? If you think that might be the case, and if were possible, if you shot from further away at a longer focal length do you think it might help that a bit?

Jimmy I know this may sound funny, but with the bottle label and the cask both pointing toward the right side of the frame, it seems like they are both “looking” out of the frame toward the (camera) right. What would you think about rotating the bottle label in such that it is entirely readable and “looking” back into the frame?

The lighting looks much less hard in this one as well.

The lens I used is a 18-55mm 3.5 5-6.

As far as the distortion goes, I personally don’t see it but that might be my eyes not being as sharp as someone that is more familiar with that phenomenon. I will try to shoot from away using a long focal length next time and see if I see the difference, its free to try! :)

And finally, for the bottle, that’s just me being silly, half of the bottle’s in French and I don’t find it as pleasing, i had it facing the other way at first so I really cannot argue with you there!
