slowly downloading now.
Just had a quick play with the new radial filter. LOVE IT!
I can see this will quickly reduce my use of NIK's Colour Effex as I mostly used it for the darken-lighten centre tool which in turn saved me time over Photoshop's radial. I have so often wished for the ability to move the centre point of the vingette in Lightroom; now they have given me that and SO much more with this new tool. Very happy vegemite
Sigh. Just bought the Nik suite primarily for the control point technology...
ALREADY? Again? Does anyone know if Adobe can actually sense when I have bought a previous version, and then release the new one almost immediately?
I did too - am I annoyed? Yes.
Do you think that NIK/Google knew something was up? I think so.
I don't believe in happenstance. I suspect there was a leak from Adobe and Google decided to cash in one last time before the "jig was up" as they say.
This may be the end of NIK, or at least the beginning of the end (or maybe more like what Churchill said - "the end of the beginning"). On another forum, someone recently remarked that the "features" of NIK have been duplicated by other software, and that the lifespan of NIK could be limited. I tend to agree.
Enough OT rambling.

Ah well. But don't they say that the best time to buy new anything is always next month . As has been said, whatever you have still works, and it's a good job that software costs a lot less than glass (provided you stay away from CS ).
Note to self. Must get around to uninstalling all that software that seemed like a good idea at the time
Lightroom5 doesn't seem to be using the same control point technology as Nik... the only tool in Nik I see LR5s radial filter replacing is the Lighten-Darken center within ColorEffex. The LR5 tool is just a moveable, shapeable radial filter; it isn't choosing "like" pixels as is the case for many of the Nik technologies (especially within Viveza).
The new LR5 filter is really just an easier to use (in my opinion only) radial tool than the one in photoshop and ColourEffex.
For more see here:
I just finished the d/l of LR5. Not sure if I really need to upgrade, just because of the moveable radial filter.......
The new features that I've tried and like are the Advanced Healing Brush and new Upright feature in the Basic Lens Correction. They save a lot of work. Here is a link with a set of videos..

They know! How I do not know but they know!
Hi, Was looking forward to the upright tool but IMO the upgrade for what I wanted is not going to be worth it as DXO Viewpoint I feel does a better job and is cheaper for the one option I was looking for. Think I will wait a year until L/R 6 comes out

Anyone notice that LR 5 won't run on Vista, which I am stuck with till I upgrade my machine?
Thanks Glen.So if you can find a copy of Win7, you shouldn't have to upgrade your machine
I really posted this so no-one got caught out. It's also the first example I''ve actually come across.
Unfortunately, I'm running RAID disks and I really have no idea how to be sure everything will work.
And anyway I want me a new computer, and any excuse is good
