Jimmy I think these shots are quite effective. I like the way you have taken the shots at an angle to the subject and I think the subdued colours work well. I wonder if the shots are a bit tight and a little wider view might be better ?
Dave
Hi Jimmy,
This is the kind of shot I like taking too.
I am in two minds whether to suggest them as 'proper' B&W as they have so little colour?
I might also see if they look any better with a bit more exposure and contrast in PP.
Cheers,
Hi Dave, Thanks for the feedback! I see what you’re saying about the angle. The main problem I was running into was that moving further away was including some other carvings that I found irrelevant to the photograph I was trying to take.
When I go back in that area I will try it again, maybe if I get myself lower I can do it!
Hi Dave, thanks for the feedback! (I sware I did not copypaste this line from my previous reply.)
I will give a spin to both your ideas tonight and repost with what I come up with
Hi Jimmy,
Yes, and you didn't overdo it
Just right on contrast, although the second might benefit from the stone highlights matching #1 - i.e. a tad more exposure
There's a groove (I think) in #1 which looks just like a climbing plant with bud from this angle, but we can't really change the sculptor's art, can we?
Cheers,
