    Gloss - fine

Oyster - stunning. Definitely my go to paper.

Ultra Pearl - terrible. Colours just disappeared - no idea why.

Dave, just for your info I get the same colour result (brilliant) from both Oyster and from Ultra Pearl. I can only think that you have a profile miss-match when using Ultra Pearl. (I use iMac and a Canon i9500)

    Hi Graham,

Yes I think you must be right - I had it prepared by Permajet so one of us must have made a mistake. I prefer the Oyster finish anyway (and I've run out of Ultra Pearl in the test pack), but for interest, is there a particular style that you use the Ultra Pearl for?

I am printing using an iP4600, which though just a consumer class A4 printer, still does a pretty decent job.

Dave, I use the Ultrapearl for portraits. It's the closest I can find to the old Ilford pearl darkroom paper.

BTW - I find the Permajet papers slightly higher in contrast compared to Ilford Galerie. If I print the same image on both, the Permajet lacks some of the very faint highlight detail that is visible on the Ilford. It's possible that this may just be something to do with the profiles.

Ah, makes sense. I don't do portraits as a rule - mostly wildlife. I can see why the UP would work well on skin tones.

    Thanks,

Here's my printing problem: I use CS6, soft proof the image, do all the adjustments to print, either let photoshop manage colours or the printer (Canon Pro9000) and the preview comes up an awful shade of pink - nothing like the image I want to print. At wits end how to resolve the issue. Help please.

You're probably better off starting another thread Tony.
