Nice series.

Although each has a bit of emotion imbedded within, the panhandler stands out most because there is a mystery with this gentleman, the who, what, why, and how questions immediately pop into your mind, provided he caught your interest in the first place.

Every time I see a veteran who is panhandling, I think, "There, but for the Grace of God, goes me!"

OTOH, I could think, this guy had the same opportunities as many of us and for some reason (quite likely drugs or alcohol) did not avail himself of that opportunity. I spent 32-years in the service and had a relatively comfortable life and a secure and comfortable retirement...

That does not mean that I look down on him. Just that I am glad that I am not walking in his shoes...

Photographically, I would crop out a bit on the left of the image eliminating the hand and the portion of the door...

Thanks guys. My favorite of the bunch is the guy laying on the stone. Although I'm not sure which of the two I like better. I think the veteran is my second pick though. I like that he is sitting surrounded by trash, like he has been tossed aside same as the other objects. I feel bad the homeless, especially veterans but I believe many of them cause their own situation.

I think I am going to start doing some more street photography. In New York it seems much easier to remain invisible within the crowds of people than it is here where I live, ten minutes away, in New Jersey.

I think they are all fabulous images, every one evokes emotion....just great photography

Any particular parts of NYC? Times Square can be very vibrant but some find it too touristy. I liken it to the central square in European and South American countries where the townfolks gather at noon and dusk and just go about their leisure enjoying their surroundings.

I spent the day all in one area. Near madison square park and wandering toward the fashion institute of technology. I like going to time square because everyone is so overwhelmed by the surroundings that no one pays attention, meaning you can get closer to your subjects without being noticed.

Very true, regarding no one paying attention, except for the one's tryiing to see their image on the big screen.
