Canon LENS HOOD ET-60
Hi. This is not so much a question - more a little information.
I have bought an ET-60 Canon Lens Hood for my new objectives, a 55-250mm IS and the kit objective (came with the 600d) 18-55 mm IS.
It works fine (thank you for many good advices in my former thread), BUT - when placed on the kit objective, I can see the lens hood in my view-finder, AND on my pictures, from 18mm to 25 mm.
It's af funny effect - but should it be that way? (oh, here was a question after all).

Re: Canon LENS HOOD ET-60
Lens hoods are specific for different lenses. The ET-60 is specified for 55-250 on crop and 75-300 on FF.
For tele lenses, hoods mostly are rather deep and they are narrower than the wide angle of the kit lens. If you put the ET-60 on the kit lens 18-55, it should be expected to vignette at all focal lengths but the longest, 55 mm.

Here are two lens hoods to compare in size...

Here is the petal shaped hood that is often used on the 18-55mm lens. If you use this hood, you need to place it so that the longer "petals" are exactly on the top and the bottom with the shorter "petals" on the side. If the hood is installed incorectly, it will vignette at shorter focal lengths...

I don't know about the new 18-55 but the one my wife has the focus ring turns at the front of the lens where the hood mounts making a flower petal useless.

Re: Canon LENS HOOD ET-60
The Canon ET-60C lenshood is for the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens. For the Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM lens you need the ET-54 lens hood and for the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM you need the EW-60C lens hood.
