Competition Closed - Voting now open

Okay - COMPETITION CLOSED. VOTING OPEN.

Everyone is now invited to send me a PM (Private Message) voting for the IMAGE NUMBER, not the Post Number, for the entry that you think has demonstrated the most skilful and creative post-processing skills, given the picture appearing in Post #1 of this thread.

Entrants are not allowed to vote for their own entry.

The winner will be announced sometime after 8th June (because I'm going to be away until then). They will then be invited to talk us through what they did to create the image. They will also be invited to submit the file that will be used in the next PP Challenge.

So, I'm waiting for your vote.

Thank you all for your patience folks. I'm back from a glorious week of sunshine on Scotland's west coast. There are a LOT of votes sitting in my Inbox and I'll get on to counting them in the next 24 hours.

Okay. I managed to get through all the voting PMs that were sent in whilst I was on holiday/vacation. Again, votes were spread all across the entries, but there was a very clear winner. And I am very pleased to announce that it is .............

    Re: PP Challenge #20

Thank you all! I really appreciate the support. I have found these challenges to be a fantastic way to discover what my post processing programs can do, all I really need is a vision and google is a powerful tool to discover how to use what I have to make the vision happen.

When I first saw the picture of Jeff's I thought it looked like a perfect spot to get away from it all. I had also been inspired by the picture a friend did of a reflection in sunglasses. I had asked my son, Sean and my husband, Greg to do a shoot with me using the glasses as a prop. Sean, being 15, took great delight in giving me goofy faces when posing and using the round light diffuser/reflector (?) as a means to annoy his father. That gave me the "long suffering" title, Greg was showing remarkable and unusual patience perhaps because it was Mother's Day . We managed to get this picture of Greg that worked.

    PP Challenge #20

I know it's small but it is only an example and I'm not on my regular computer and am having trouble with limited capabilities of this one.

So I cleaned up Greg's portrait with Portrait Professional and Lightroom 3 not to much and did sharpening etc. I also enhanced his eyes in Photoshop Elements 9 by using the selection tool and selecting the lower portion of the iris going to enhance, lighting, brightness/contrast(I believe that is how it goes) and just shifting the brightness a bit to lighten. Then I googled how to put a reflection in sunglasses using photoshop elements 9. I hope this is ok but here is a link to the video I found that I followed almost exactly except I didn't put as much of a curve on the glasses, since they are a different style to the video, or add the lighting explained at the end of the video.

I then wanted to put a little of the picture in his eyes so I again turned to google and found this video which I followed adjusting opacity so he didn't look completely strange in the eye area.

So at the end of this, I had Long Suffering Husband finds the Perfect Spot.

    Thanks again everyone!

Thanks very much for the explanation Diane! You had the vision and researched how to accomplish it. Very nice outcome - congratulations!

Congratulations, Diane. Well deserved. Thanks also to everyone who entered - it was a special treat to see what everyone would do with one of my photos, because it expands my horizon beyond my own ideas. Now, I can look forward to working with whatever Diane chooses.
