    Mini competition #44

    Here's how it works ...

    - You good folks post images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

    Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

    If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread in this forum.

    Cheers,

    Hi Arith,

    Thanks for starting the new one off again.

    btw, just calling it 'sticky' doesn't work sadly, that's something Colin or I have to do in the forum with a moderating tool.

    If you just Title it Mini Competition next time, and we'll "sticky" it when we get here

    Thanks for trying though, it is appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Boyd Creek Waterfall

    Er... ok spot the newbie. How do I get it to display larger like the one above (apart from clicking on it)? I uploaded at the max size of 1200 wide and 488k is this still too big?
    (Thanks Dave)

    Sorry; I'm not very forum savvy. I'll name it mini competition next time.

    Absolutely no apology needed, if only you knew the pickle I get myself into here on occasions

    Thanks again,

    Hi Bill,

    If it is not blasphemy, I was going to ask if that was the key that wound the clock, but I notice upon closer inspection, it isn't a clock at the top

    Perhaps I need knew glasses

    Yeah not a clock, but I could see how it would like it from afar.

    Hi Karlos,

    I hope you don't mind me offering the following personal opinion on your shot;

    I like the aspect ratio and frame, but feel the tree is just too central.
    There's really nothing much to look at in the right hand 20-25% of frame.

    Now, obviously I cannot see what is to the left of frame, but due to tress and the wind pattern on the water's surface, I would have been tempted to pan left somewhat for a better composition. Of course, if there was something horrendously unphotogenic there, my apologies for a daft suggestion.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Wendy,

    I have tried to give maximum 'value for money' on the C&C as you "asked for it"

    The biggest issues for me are;
    a) A little dim, although I appreciate this was entered before recent tweaks to your monitor set up
    b) Seems to lack any Local Contrast Enhancement; so looks rather flat
    c) A little more attention required to what become distracting picture elements and need to be dealt with, either in framing up when shooting, or in PP (cropping choice, cloning or dodging)

    Let me expand on c) a little;
    I would place the foreground path/trail visible through the trees a little higher in the frame.
    I would clone out, or severely dodge down the whiteness of the building on the left hand edge of frame, include a bit more on left so it isn't right 'on the edge'.
    I would also reduce luminance of the white roofed building in left corner, although it's not too bad.

    Just my personal views; I hope they help,
