Blackbacked Jackal
After the second shower of rain in a week there was a bit of water lying about. This Jackal quenched its thirst at a small puddle by the roadside. A few days later these small collections of water were gone.

C&C welcomed

Re: Blackbacked Jackal
Hi Clive,
I am not going to say much. Your Cheetah shot was excellent, now I am comparing the Jackal to the Cheetah shot.
You should know what makes the big difference – the light and time of day.
This is a very nice capture, an image any tourist will be proud of. For you – it is no longer good enough. You got the Cheetah, you can get the Jackal as well. You can do it.

Hi Andre, no pressure then! Many thanks for the positive feedback it's just what I need and wanted to hear. I know the standards I want to achieve and will get there.

Re: Blackbacked Jackal
Looks much like our coyote in North America though the ears look much larger.

Re: Blackbacked Jackal
I'm of the same mind as Andre. In my experience though cheetahs are more likely to hang around than jackals, so a tough assignment

Re: Blackbacked Jackal
Hi Dave, agreed. Andre is right though I have to get out of the "good tourist photograph" bracket. A challenge indeed.
