Hello Andre, exactly because the sensor is not dealing with really bright and dark areas. I once photographed Florida Scrub Jays as my wife and I were leaving a national nature reserve, it was close to dark. The exposure of the images was fine with little if any noise but another problem showed itself... loss of fine detail because the camera struggled to focus in the diminished light. The high ISO range handled the darkness but the lack of contrast made focusing difficult.
