Dioctria linearis (I think) This insect catches other flies which it spikes with those sharp forward pointing mouth parts.
I was struggling in the undergrowth to get a good angle with sufficient depth of field.

Was it down-sampled as part of being uploaded? It would be interesting to download the uploaded copy and compare it to the original (pixel dimension wise, image size wise, and quality wise).
By the way - that plane obviously has badly worn rings, and should have been grounded!

I have some difficulty determining what the subject is, I assume it is the flowers, however, these are partially hidden and the main attention grabber in shot is the sunlit plank of wood.
