The colorful shots are great, but you need to take any "color" experience seriously.

FYI getting ANY foreign matter into the lungs is a bad idea "food safe" or not. I work with wey powders etc and our operators MUST wear dust masks and we extract powerfully from the area. As for your cameras..... I don't even fancy the idea of a UV filter, bring your brownie box camera or a disposable kodak
Agreed. Thus, the dust mask. It wasn't perfect, but it kept most of the crud out. Lots of runners had multicolored gums and tongues from ingesting the starch, but my mouth was the proper color at day's end. And I've probably breathed more than my share of light hydrocarbons courtesy of working in machine shops and garages.
A disposable would be ideal. Though note that I didn't just use a UV filter, I disassembled it and applied clear silicone to the glass's mounting surface and the lens's filter threads. Spreading semi-permanent goop on one's lens is nerve-wracking, but it worked a treat.Originally Posted by KennyF

Good forethought and planning! and nice to know there's a way to protect your gear at one of these. Glad, too, that you felt the pics were worth the time and effort for the prep and cleanup.
