Very nice image. Surprised there were no reflections but the tilt of the head did the trick. Was the crop your idea or was this the frame you captured? A bit more top of the head would really balance this out, but for a personal capture it works well.

i bounced my flash at the ceiling to minimize the reflection on her glass and maybe the tilt helped but i don't know enough about glasses to say .

As far as the cropping goes, i purposefully did it that way following some tips i saw from Peter Hurley's video (thanks Colin S.!)

This is a nice shot and expresses your mom's warm personality. My only comment might be that the top rims of her glasses are cutting across her eyes...
