Yellowthroat (or the way that I wish it always were)

    Nikon D90, Sigma 400mm, f/8, 1/320 sec, iso1600 @ 2.2m
I found this guy dazed and confused after it apparently collided with my window. I was concerned that it may become a snack for my dog, I enticed on to my finger and attempted to place it upon a branch. It wasn't done thanking me as it immediately returned to perch on my shoulder. We had a little discussion and decided that perfect tripod height in the lilac was the perfect place to pose for you good folks

Nice photo! If possible, consider leaving a little more space to the left of the bird to balance out the photo a bit so he's not looking right at the edge so much (just my opinion). I'd also remove the stray twig at the right middle.

I trimmed a bit off the side and bottom, does that help

Beautiful image , randy. Hope you don't mind, but i gave it a little extra editing..........Added some sharpening, contrast, brightened the eye, adjusted the color casts, and made him pop a bit more with a couple of vignettes.

    Great image!!!

I just wish I could get this close to every warbler, I had to back up, as it was too close to fit the frame. I thought of breaking out the macro..............or maybe the 17-50 Tamron would have been interesting? Seriously, I am very glad that it was apparently alright, the birds have taken a pretty hard knock this Spring.

Joe- Your comments, being the bird photo master, mean a lot to me. I meant to ask.....Is this close enough?

Bobo- It is good to hear from you. You will be happy to know that Minnesota is releasing the birds back to Canada.

Steve- I do like your edits and it is always interesting to see how others would edit a shot. I would love to know what values you used for your white balance. I suspect that somewhere between your rendition and mine we may find the proper values. I am not sure that I like the title, I prefer to let the photo speak for me. I think it is a personal preference.

I only put the title on there, because it's YOUR image, and i edited it. As far as the white balance, i don't have a clue to the values. I used the curves tool to adjust it. The image needed some cyan, magenta and blue.

Re: Yellowthroat (or the way that I wish it always were)

Joe- I understand, I find that many of my shots are too blue for my taste, so I routinely adjust white balance to a default of 5400. My largest problem is that I am artistically challenged. As to the title, that darned Donald has corrupted me into being anti-title

Otavio- I appreciate your comments, it is good hearing from you. This shot is proof that even a ten-thumbed, grumpy old man can occasionally do it right.

Nice shot and an interesting story. At least you got paid for your trouble with some free modeling.
