Bee Eater?
Took this shot yesterday morning in the hills above Gordons Bay,Western Cape,knowing very little about birds I wondered if it was a type of Bee eater? Thank you in advance for any replies, Neil

Not a bee eater, a sunbird (old world equivalent of a hummingbird). Looks like a female, but I'll need to go to the books to tell you which species.
Nice sharp image - not easy birds to capture.

Thanks for that reply Dave,I have an application on my ipod for birds of South Africa and couldn't find a bee eater that looked like the photo but now that you have told me it is a Sunbird it looks like its a Copper Sunbird.cheers, Neil

Excellent capture and the long orientation works quite well here. Nice to see different crop styles.
Pinaki - those are 2 excellent shots. Need to study you pages there later.
