lily 50 mm vs 400 mm C&C welcomed
This lily was shot with my 400 on a tripod. SS 1/160 sec. av. 7.1 ISO 160 400mm.
The same lily later in day hand held with my 50mm. SS 1/50 sec. av 2.8 iso 100 50mm

Perhaps cut out that top inch or so from #2?

I like them both for different reasons. Totally different moods. I like the composition in #1 (the angle of the flower) better. Agree with Bobo on #2 crop. I'd like it better without the band of light color at the top. I like the water droplets on #1. But the nice diffused light in #2 makes it a calming image. Not sure any of those comments have much to do with the lens.

I prefer the first one. The flower is almost completely in focus. Also the water droplets add a nice extra touch.
But both are very nice photos!

Hello James, I like the first. The background is much nicer, a softer blurred green which allows the flower to stand out.

I like the first too - partly because of the background/bokeh. But...a little bit apples vs. oranges as they are both very nice and I wonder if the second shot with the same background would be quite similar.

Thanks all . I agree with Bobo I like the feel of 2 better , Though I feel I got a better background and dof with 1. Thanks again for the time .
