Don't know how heavily cropped this already is, but wondered about a bit more off the left in order to throw the box a bit more off-centre?
I like it. I was thinking a crop a bit off the right side to get it off center and so allows the wren "room" to get into the picture......mary
Great shot, Harmon. You captured a neat posture and attitude. I tend instinctively to center discrete subjects like this but have been convinced to force myself otherwise, consistent with the Mary and Donald's comments. Something along the lines of "rule of thirds", usually. We do, of course, see discrete subjects in the center of our vision when we look at them - that is where we have the most pixels. Of the infinite number of potential locations for the subject in the frame, though, there is a "best" one, and I am coming to appreciate that it is not often the center. I wouldn't mind some formal learning as to why this is so.
