Very cool photo. I like all the different textures and the red orange color against the bright green. The detail is very good, I can see all the little lines in the wings. What type of lens did you use?

Beautifully sharp all over which is always the difficulty. The only drawback is the cluttered background but you can't do much about that. A very nice capture.

Re: Calico Pennant (Male)
Good work capturing the detail of the veinwork in the wings, Karm, but the the reflection on the head really bothers me. The two smaller ones on the front might be taken for catchlights in the eyes, but that big one on the skull looks out of place.

Re: Calico Pennant (Male)
Hey Greg, I completely understand your complaint about the large reflection. My view is that this picture is hyped and over saturated (my intent) and the large reflection fits the image. For me it's the type of reflection a painter might add to a picture.

Re: Calico Pennant (Male)
Thanks John. I agree with you that a simpler and more elegant background probably would have been better.

High Ali, I used one of Nikon's less expensive lenses their 50-200. I think its f4-f6. It's under $200. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago and I am very happy with it. Appreciate that the image you are looking at did not come directly out of my camera.
