Shrooms C&C Please!!!

After the much needed rain of the last week, I had several mushroom spores come up in a neglected flower bed in my yard. I had an idea that they might be an interesting subject and gave them a try. I don't own a dedicated macro lens so I shot these with my regular 17-85mm wide angle which has a macro adjustment on it.

Let me know what you think. Is there anything to these or was it just my imagination that something interesting was there?

Interesting shapes and textures. Good idea for subject matter. IMO a perspective other than direct top down may be more interesting.

Hi Kris. I have not had much luck photographing mushrooms in my yard. As Dan said, perhaps a different angle instead of straight down would yield a more dynamic image. Having said that, if you like to play with post processing, I suspect you could come up with some neat abstracts using your shrooms as a basis. Cropping, false coloring, replacing the grass background with something might give you some very attractive photos.
