Finaly received the crystal ball i ordered today. though id share my first try with it.

It looks like it needs calibrating as it appears to be indicating a shady past rather than a glimpse of a bright future.

Interesting shot and obviously you are going to have a lot of fun calibrating it.

it most certainly needs calibrating yeah hehe, next time i think ill ask my wife to trigger the shutter because as a 1 man job, it really wasn't easy to stay in focus with the ball and my head at the same time

i was however going for a grim picture instead of a bright one, i wanted to picture someone trapped in the globe

Another option would be to have the foreground (hand etc) sharp but with a misty dreamlike vision inside the ball. May need a bit of editing to look natural though.

I'm not sure what's going on here I've never seen this technique before, if you hadn't mentioned crystal ball I wouldn't of known there was one. It definitely looks cool just maybe more sharpness on the ball or something to let the viewer know what's going on. Explain the technique please.

Nicely done, Jimmy. I rarely like the use of selective color, but it works great in this one. Actually, I think this one should be called selective monochrome.

You could substitute a photo of Orson Welles, as he would appear more sinister. Take that as a compliment.

Roger, i'm basicly shooting thru a crystal ball trying to achive focus on it and then try to have focus on a subject matter on the other side.

here are few example of it, you'll see the ball more clearly

when you shoot thru the ball, the image is inverted so you have to play around a bit for it to look right

Got it! I love the second image where you're holding it, too bad the sharpness is not on for that one. It seems near impossible to achieve holding and shooting the picture yourself. Thanks for the explanation I have a 3" ball myself maybe I'll give it a try.
