Solitude
Taken in the seaside holiday resort of Blackpool. Every evening a murmuration of Starlings gathers around the pier head and then as one, suddenly drop to roost on the underside of the iron structure. It's a fascinating sight.

Re: Solitude
Good colours, John. I was a bit concerned at first that the building on the left would take most of my attention, but in fact after looking for a while, I find the reflection in the foreground keeps directing me to the bright light of the sunset and the silhouette of the birds. Well done.

Hi John. I like everything about your image except for the black specs. I expect they are a flock of birds. Even in the full size view, they look like noise. I wonder if you have another similar shot without the birds.

Re: Solitude
Thanks for the comment Ken. They are birds but they were the whole point of the shot. Starlings have this interesting habit of gathering together at twilight and they dip and dive almost as one body forming interesting shapes in the sky. Then as if on a signal they all dive together down to their roost - in his case under the pier. It's an incredible sight. None of this of course, is obvious from my shot but it was what captured my interest at the time.
