    Monochromes

Our weather yesterday was rather gray off and on with rain showers. So, I processed these images based on my mood - Black and White. I used Sep 2 for all 3, then moved the sliders a bit.

While I realize that the subject matter is diverse, please comment on the suitability of the images to conversion. Please also comment on the conversion itself. Ah heck. Please just comment.

Hi, Marie. Nice images. I like the vignette on #1. #2 is a beauty! If mine, I would consider pushing the contrasts a bit higher on #3.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

I like #2. That is a great pose that you caught. Perhaps just a little less room top and left.

    Cheers,
I agree Marie. Not so much at the highlight end but perhaps some more depth in the shadows.

    Please, John or Octavio,

Give it a go? I have taken and processed this image several times over the past years, and just don't seem to get it right. What I loose is the detail in the shadows and the balance. I can see the scene in my head, but what comes out on the screen does not match.

I have no objection to someone working with my images.

    Re: Monochromes

The first one is a tricky subject for monochrome. But it has worked well.

I would definitely crop #2 to lose some of the background distractions.

You may get away with increasing contrast on the last scene. But I would be very wary of over brightening the water and losing the effect. It does look quite different when viewed at full screen size.

    Thanks, Geoff for commenting.

I did try cropping #2, but ended up with an off-putting in-your-face beetle. So, perhaps I did too much? I am interested in seeing what your crop factor would be?

On #3, On Keidash Point, you are right. Viewed on black, the image looks better. Interesting. Now I do wonder, if when printed and matted, if a non-traditional mat color (Grey or black) would be in order? Now you have me thinking. (Do you smell grey matter heating up?) As always, thank you for your suggestions.

    Re: Monochromes

I would crop something like this, Marie.

    Monochromes

I also slightly reduced the background highlights so they aren't quite so dazzling.
