    June 29 Lightning.....an unexpected storm

We had a long line of thunderstorms blow in on Saturday night. It was expected that these storms would fall apart well before they crossed the New Mexico line into Texas, luckily for me and one of my friends these storms produced some incredible lightning.

    Kris,

The last is my favorite. I like the way the strikes fill the frame. Nice job.

Of the group I like the last one the best. If I can get permission from my friend to post his shots here, or encourage him to join the forums would be better, I would like to put some of his shots in here. He had some incredible shots from the other night including one that struck about a 100 yards from him.

I am hoping for more storms this week. I am getting bored with night time lightning and want some storms during the late afternoon to add something to the pictures.

    Hi Kris
You be careful out there you hear! You would be very attractive to lightning.
Great shots though. I like number 3 best too.

I also like the last one best. Well done!

Is it possible in the first one that the tiny bright light at the center of the horizon is lightning that you caught just as it started up from the ground? That question probably sufficiently indicates that I know next to nothing about lightning, other than that I do know that it can start in the clouds or at the ground.

I would love to be able to attribute the bright light at the bottom as lightning starting from the ground up, but unfortunately I can't. I accidentally posted a copy of that picture in which I didn't clone out the light from a farm house. I have the finished copy of the picture with the light cloned.
