Well spotted, Phil. I wonder if the writing was on the wall before the dumpster was located there. Those strewn boxes bring to mind the homeless' make-shift shelters, which works nicely with the statement. Also, it's good to see someone still knows what graffiti should be about: around here the local rocket scientists just scrawl their own names over everything - like dogs marking their territory.

    Thanks Greg

With the people in this area mainly being from the Asia subcontinent I am quite surprised that the spelling is correct.

    hi Greg,
"Rocket scientists" aside, Wollongong also has some very good legal street art. There are a lot of well decorated traffic light control boxes, and I like the laneway alongside the Crown St. Mall car park.

    Hi Noel,
I agree and there is mural near the newsagents just south of the keira st / smith st intersection (eastern side) that always takes my attention. I would need a UWA to get a photo of it.

There is a difference between graffiti art and taggers, though. Mostly what I see around the residential areas is the taggers' brands defacing private property. Rarely (if ever) do I see the witty political insights, and humourous social barbs that used to be graffiti. And that is a great shame, because with our crazy politics and political figures there is ample material for fertile minds.

Time to confess, Phil, that you painted the graffiti.

It really is a wonderful street shot.

Thanks Mike - I've spotted two of this artist's works so far. I'll have to look for more and get some more shots with human elements in as well. I like this one even though there's no-one in the shot.

The previous one was this, but it's fading now as the construction board also fades
