Mountain Goats on Mt Evans

Previously I posted Big Horn Sheep on Mt Evans in THIS THREAD.

Now it's time for the Mountain Goats.

#1 This is the only shot I got of 2 kids together so I had to include it.



#2 Another kid. They spend a lot of time with their head down and generally I don't like to take pics of them in this position. But I liked this one with the flowers and his eyes partially closed like he's really enjoying the food.



#3 I played around with several of these images in monochrome and I really liked this one that way. Since I know nothing about monochrome conversion, I tried out several of the LR presets.



#4 We knew these two were going to come over the ridge. The mom popped up first and I was directly in her path so she hesitated. I moved away and out of her path and she brought her kid on up.



#5 Last, just for fun I'm including this shot my husband took of me in action.

Awesome! Hard to pick a favorite, Terri. If forced, I'd go with #2 as it's perfect in my view. The wind blowing his coat back gave me a chill as well. Congrats.

Wonderful images of majestic creatures, nice to know they still exists and are there to be seen. Love the action shot. My only suggestion would be to crop the fourth tighter eliminating much of the out of focus foreground, my preference only.

Nice set, Terri. That second shot is a winner. Backlighting with that white fur, the flowers, and the blissful look on the face all come together nicely.

Regarding the last shot, I've got one word for you... kneepads. I carry a pair of the cheap, light foam ones in my camera bag. They cost a couple of bucks at Home Depot and weigh next to nothing. I'm getting where my knees hurt for two days if I kneel down on a hard surface even briefly.

Terri I don't usually go for the monochrome images, but 3 works very nicely. A great set !
Dan is full of great tips I keep knee pads with me especially for deer , I love shooting them from real low.

Great shots, but I am surprised they let you get so close. The last time I tried something like that (in Montana) They ran us off.

The kneepads is a great idea. My problem is that with or w/o kneepads I may never be able to get up.

Kneepads, yes. I'll have to dig out my gardening kneepads. Bruce, I know what you mean. Getting down is SOOO much easier than getting back up!

Bob, I think these herds are really used to people but I still try to watch for signs that they are feeling crowded and give them their space. I used to raise domestic goats and I'm well aware how fast and how hard they can hit you. I would not want to anger one of these.

You might want to try lightening the shadows in #1. Other than that, they look really nice. I'm envious.
