A Dog and His Stick

I spotted a young guy having a great time throwing a stick for his dog. I took a couple of shots of him and the dog as I approached and then asked if it was ok - he said as long as I didn't put them in the paper. So I just photographed his dog.

These are not great pictures, I am generally too slow for any kind of action shots. But I had fun, the guy had fun, and the dog had fun: so it is a fun set!

Great series... You nailed focus, exposure and composition. Well done images of a great looking and happy dog! The full reflection in #2 is quite neat although all the shots are great...

Ditto for me. And your title is just irresistible to anyone who has ever had a dog. My Lab never looks happier than when he is charging around with some dirty stick in his mouth.

I had been having a lousy day but 20 mins or so talking to that young guy about him and his dog lifted my heart. And now I am doubly rewarded by your kind comments.

Incidentally, he told me he picked up the dog from the pound late last year. It is about 8 years old, and it loves the water - even in the middle of winter, as you can see.

There are few things that make my heart happier than seeing a rescue dog well cared for and obviously loved. Thanks for sharing the images and the explanation!

I think it's nearly impossible to take a bad picture of a kid or a dog. Happy Dog, stick, water, nice reflections. . . .you can't go wrong!!!
