Lunchtime Bear
We had a visitor at lunchtime today - again. My wife spotted him and I ran to get my camera. He/she has been here before and can't seem to get enough of our bird seed. This is getting expensive and the birds aren't happy sharing their food. But, since he is bigger, he wins, birds lose.
FWIW, the bird feeder sits atop the gray pole. This isn't meant to be a competition nature photo with no man made objects visible; it's just to document what it looked like in our backyard today.

Re: Lunchtime Bear
Good capture Ken, well done. I like to look at bears but I don't think I'd want one in my backyard!

Re: Lunchtime Bear
Now that is something you don't get in the backyards in Glenfarg!
Is that not dangerous?

Re: Lunchtime Bear
Very beautiful animal/picture, the bear must have a very good food pattern, nice shiny fur, is this in NJ?

Re: Lunchtime Bear
The bear can be dangerous if it feels threatened. We've had a mother and her cubs come by in previous years, and as you can imagine, she is protective. The bird feeder is about 50 feet (16 - 17 meters) from the house. I slowly walk down the steps from the deck so I can be on the ground and squat next to the house to get an eye level view, as best I can. Our backyard slopes down away. This bear was docile and if I didn't move, he ignored me. I would not get any closer.
Yes, this is in New Jersey. We live about 60 miles (100 km) from New York City.
