New Canon Lens Rumor
I know, I know, I can't stand rumors either and don't spend a lot of time dwelling on them, especially when they are internet born. However, I would still like to know if anyone has heard of a "next generation" 70-200 f2.8 IS coming out. I'm going to pull the trigger as far as buying this lens in the next day or two in order to take advantage of Canons rebate, which ends in January. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Colin

Re: New Canon Lens Rumor
With cameras it's a little easier to predict (eg 1Ds4 is bound to have more pixels than 1Ds3 + movie mode etc), but with lenses, it's much harder.
The 24-70/2.8L IS rumour has been around for a while - and would seem logical. A 70-200/2.8L IS II less so though as it already has an IS unit good for 3 stops (whereas the F4 version is good for 4), and they don't normally update IS units in production lenses (none come to mind).
Bottom line is "Anyone who knows for sure isn't allowed to tell"

Re: New Canon Lens Rumor
Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
I'm just going to get it and not look back. Start searching for my flash and wide angle for next year.
Happy New Year to all
