Nicely done.

Great composition mike, and a well executed shot.
You seem to be having alot of fun with those broken glasses. Perhaps the wife will break a few more for you.
Thanks to Bruce and Steve.
I need to quit joking about my wife being so kind as to break our wine glasses. This last one produced two small cuts in her hand. Heck, she almost bled on the wine glass. If she had, I would have had to clean it even more than usual.
Mike, the moment I looked at the image I heard jazz. Very cool.

Now, this one I really, really like. The best broken glasses shot that Mike's produced? I think it 'just works' on all fronts.
I'd be tempted to try cropping it even tighter at left and right to take the edges of the rims up close to the edges of the frame, but that would take you away from a standard formatting ratio (Is this 5:4?), which is important to some and not so important to others
I agree. Very good abstract, and well orchestrated.
Yep...very polished, elegant shot Mike,
Great shot Mike. It is all-around nice, composition, focus, exposure and B&W conversion...
Thank you, everyone!
I thought the same thing when I first worked with the image. However, when I tried making the right and left sides of the frame closer to the glass, I didn't like it.
I'm reasonably confident that this is not a standard aspect ratio. I never care about using standard aspect ratios unless I am preparing a print for someone who doesn't want to have to use a custom frame.
Nicely done Mike. I very much like all your wine glass images.
Thanks to Joe and Greg!
I've thought of a similar composition to Greg's crop but I need my wife to break some more glasses. Really.
Greg, like I said, Mike's image is jazz. Your image has a bamboo, meditative feel to it.

I agree, Karm. I said Mike's image reminds me of trumpets = jazz.
Alternatively, the crop I suggested might be another and different image (= not jazz)
Greg and Karm: It took all of your posts for my numb brain cells to finally get it that the broken stem and base of each wine glass resembles the bell of a trumpet. Sheesh! I'll try to expand on that idea in future shots.
Mike, I know this sounds weird but when I look at certain photographs I hear sounds. When I opened your image, the brass section of a jazz band almost blew my head back. Yeah, I would definitely play with arranging your broken stems and bases to take advantage of the sound it elicits.

Wonderful, wonderful stuff Mike. This is one of my favorites!
