Or, "you must have a really good camera" -- hence my earlier facetious post.

Well Hell, couldn't agree more with (almost) all the posts on this thread. The masses shouldn't be allowed out when "real" photographers are about...

Mebbe that's why many folk regard camera carriers as pompous, conceited and patronising .

LOL It is just that the other day Manfred shared a beautiful bear photo, and now a beautiful image of a turtle. These are the first I've seen of his wildlife photos, so meant as encouragement - hoping Manfred will share more of them.

Christina, since you adore pelicans, here is a link to the pics I took yesterday morning, undisturbed. Once you get there click on one of the pics to see all ten.

Well, if I went to the neighborhood picnic and shared these thoughts I'd rightfully be thought of as pompous or if I didn't take a moment to talk to my neighbor who just scared off the bird. This forum is public, but it's still just a little venting amongst those with similar experiences. Every profession or hobby has the same misunderstandings with those that are ignorant of their craft. Doesn't lessen the frustration, though, to know that most people don't mean to be clueless.

    Hi Terri,

Thank you for sharing.. Beautiful images! My favourites are the in flights and also the ones with their beaks in the water, that one shot where the pelican's head is half in the water with the eye in focus is incredible!

In Mexico I photographed a lot of brown pelicans and I hope to return for a visit one day to try again. And while visiting friends in Saskatoon I photographed some white pelicans playing in the water in Mier damn? Anyway I do adore pelicans... I looked up Manitou lake and the next time I visit my friends in Saskatoon, I am going to visit that lake... There are no pelicans in Vancouver and I miss them.

    Thank you.

Excellent images Terri! Today anyone with a camera in their android or P&S think they can take award winning images which they post on FB or Flickr and invite their friends and relatives to "ooh, haa" over them. Carry on with your good work and only you decide for yourself what you like to see. Talent will speak for itself in the end.
