You captured some nice detail on the head of the bird. Well exposed and with a nice contrasting BG. I assume the high level of feather detail is what you were trying to capture in which case you did well.

Well done, James. Lots of detail. Only suggestion is to reduce the highlights just slightly so feathers on cheek are not as white.

Hello Ken thanks for advice, and will do since I am going to print this pic.(its my mothers favorite bird)
I just threw this pic out without any info, I was very busy this week (Slowed down now though)
This female cardinal flew over to my hummingbird perch. I just instinctively shot a couple pics. because of size difference in species and Steve has me moved to my minimum focus distance I couldn't fit the whole bird in image. I was just kind of happy to have took a sharp photo.lol

Nice image , both the capture with the camera and post processing. Great detail in the feathers from being so close what the image was shot.
