Photo Competition for July - THE RESULT
I think we all knew that this was a high quality competition. The spread of votes and the tightness of the voting clearly illustrates that there were a number of images 'in-the-frame' when people were working out which one to vote for. Only one vote separated 1st from 2nd, and 2nd from 3rd. And there were a number of others coming in just one and two votes behind them.
So this truly is an occasion for congratulating everyone who took part.

Congrats to the winners for really fine images. I know I had a hard time selecting a favorite as there were many deserving photographs.

Well done to all the winners, a great competition with some amazing diversity in subjects and styles. This is why I am a happy member of CiC.

Re: Photo Competition for July - THE RESULT, SV Aloft
I am very honored to be among the winners. This site always gets some truly outstanding images. (Where is Yan Zhang this month? Perhaps he has graduated to a new site!)
Aloft, the boat in the image, is owned by Jack Farrell, facilities manager of the Star Island Hotel, which is in the background. I printed the image on 11 x 17 Red River Art White paper and it looked stunning, so I mailed it to Jack. An interesting fact about boats is, if there are no registration numbers at the bow, then the boat is US Coast Guard documented. You can look up the boat's name and, using the type, size and location of the boat, figure out who owns it and what their address is. I've sent out a few of these 'blind' prints. If you get a good boat portrait, there's no point in keeping to yourself as no one like a good boat print as much as the owner.

Congrats to all the winners and to all the excellent entries as well for producing some fine imagery. These open themed competitions make voting tough. But Steven's entry was my favorite as well. Simply a stunning image.
Richard, the bee image is amazing.
Homer, I'm a lifetime boatman also and loved your shot. Even more so now knowing the connection with the hotel. I have done the same thing sending boat images to the owners. Usually fishing boats in my case due to location.
If our weather pattern persists my August entry will involve rain in some manner

Congratulations to the winners, a wonderful array of images submitted, which made selecting only one very difficult
