Carroll Creek Linear Park and trompe l'oeil Bridge Murals, Fredrick, MD
On my way back home to Maryland for my 40th high school reunion, I stopped at one of my favorite places to walk - Carroll Linear Park in Fredrick, MD. The park itself was created as an attempt at flood control, as Carroll Creek runs through downtown Fredrick.
The bridge murals are wonderful examples of trompe l'oeil. You literally have to put your hands on the wall to feel that it is smooth.
Enjoy. Again, I am traveling and working off of my laptop, using Elements 8.

9. Viewing the angel is a matter of perspective. You have to be at the right angle or the image is quite distorted.

I also have pictures of the park itself, if anyone is interested. It is beautifully planted and some of the other features are quite lovely.
Please feel free to comment. Some might be a bit dark/contrasty, but it is tough to gauge on a 17" laptop screen. I can lighten if necessary.
PS: I had not read Alaska Dan's post before I posted my thread, but now I plan to take even more pictures when I am back in Harford County, MD where I grew up.

Interesting pictures. Looking at them with my iPad, I find it hard to see what is real and what is trompe l'oeil. I think the shadows give it away. Exposure looks right to my eyes (unless they are being tricked of course). The stone texture looks real.

Every bit of the "stone" you see is also trompe l'oiel.
The shadows are deceiving.

Astonishing! And nice images. Just realised that my niece lives in Fredrick, though I've never visited. I'll have to ask her - I imagine it's a pretty famous local landmark.

Thank you Dave and Donald, for commenting.
Dave, this park is easily done in a few hours. So, if you ever get a chance to visit, it is do-able. Carroll Creek is a well known local landmark.
Donald, I have visited the park for many years, but had not been back for several. This is also the first year I have stopped with the express purpose of taking pictures. I was fortunate for a good evening.
