Thai statue - any merit in b&w conversion?
Hi,
I took this picture in the palace in Bangkok a few years ago. I took it for the colours - I'm sure you see why. I am going through some photos trying to understand better what makes a good b&w image. It seems counter intuitive, but I thought I'd try this one. I could certainly do more work on the conversion, but does anyone think it has any merit - "no" is fine .
Thanks

Dave
In the B & W I think the statue gets lost against the background. I'm sure your original thinking was correct - this one is about colour.

I absolutely adore monochrome images but this is a classic example of a photo that is best served by making use of the colors.
I have been to that palace and have never experienced elsewhere such opulence in every direction. It's really an amazing place.

Yes, definitely - I very much like the b&w version and the statue has been a personality change.

Thanks for the feedback - in spite of Kaye's comment it's a "no" - which I kind of thought, but nice to have confirmation.

Gorgeous photo... I like the B&W but the colour photo is so brilliant that I prefer it too.

Hi Dave.
I vote for the color version. However, I found the B&W version more fun for the eye, assuming one has the time. The statue blends in with the background so my eye was moving all around the image looking to see if there was something else to find.
Your conversion was superb, even it isn't first choice.
I enjoyed your post.
