A group of us took photos of the animals in the shelter to help with a fundraiser scheduled for November. The shelter has just gotten back up and running after a tragic fire destroyed the previous shelter.

The new building allows the cats to enjoy an enclosed outside area. Many were enjoying the beautiful day outside. I brought some peacock feathers with me to help with the shoot.

There are lots of darling small animals available for adoption as well...

Thank you so very much, Marie. Your kind words mean a lot to me. It is very difficult knowing that many will never find homes and more and more are coming in each day. I've been very active in animal rescue for decades and it is very trying at times. I try very hard to bring out the best in them knowing that many people think that shelters are depressing places full of sick and anti social animals - which is not the case. Shelters have been moving towards a more 'open concept' layout for a long time and many are doing a great job of it. They are always short on money and every little bit counts.
It was a tough go yesterday - balancing a peacock feather in one hand and my camera in the other. Plus, I had a few very affectionate souls following me around that I had to stroke and pay attention to.

I contacted Cute Overload today to see if they would post them to their website and they said that they will use them on Wednesday of this week! I am beyond thrilled. So many people visit that website and I hope the exposure will help bring in donations.
