The ten skills of cityscape photography to show the essence of a city

City is not only a place where an ocean of people live, trade and work, but also a place full of energy, dynamic and vitality. And a city includes many things inside, so it is quite difficult to show the essence of the city by one photo.

In different time and season, it is disparate in the major element to compose a city. The morning city is peaceful, while the night city is energetic.

Most of people won’t stop at his city, enjoying and marveling at those things which make this city so beautiful and wonderful. The real city photography should reflect the day-to-day city life, rather than only photograph the magnificent buildings in the central city.

    1. Choose an interesting subject.
Confirm there is an interesting subject in the photo, no matter in the center of the picture or just as foreground.

    2. Collocate with the foreground and background.
You should take account of the foreground and background at the same time when you photograph.

    3. Leave room for cropping.
When you compose a picture in the viewfinder, you need leave room around for the late cropping.

    4. Use the level tripod.
In order to make sure the horizon is level, use the level tripod to photograph. Even though you can redress this problem by XXXXXXXXX (hyperlink to product removed by Mod), it is easy to do well in the early and save the late time.

    5. Keep the front-lighting location.
Try to Shoot at the front-lighting location (the sun is behind you), so that you can get the most light and the sky will look more blue.

    6. Choose the proper time on shoot.
In a day, try to shoot earlier or later. At this time, the light is the best, and photos will have abundant shade and details.

    7. Expose accurately.
Based on the exposure of the area of highlights, and photos don’t appear overexposure.

    8. Use delayed autodyne or remote control.
Insist on using delayed autodyne or remote control shutter.

    9. Use polarizer.
Using polarizer on SLR can remove the reflect light from the building.

    10. Buy a good shot.
To make the maximum function of the SLR, you need to buy a good shot. Expensive as it is, the value is over the price absolutely.

Using these skills above, you must witness own progress on photograph. And your photo is not only clear, but also it has good color, which is the essential element of a wonderful photo.

I would like to send him a private message but the option does not seem available - probably just as well.

Not any more. I've just terminated his membership of the forum. He may well try to come back with a different identity, but we usually pick these up pretty quickly.

Thanks please award yourself a 10% pay rise back dated to whenever you like (more than 50 years worth may look a bit suspicious)

I think Donald is worth more than 10% but often in situations like this 50% of nothing is just more nothing?
