Canal at the Hagley Museum

This is a view of the canal that runs through the grounds of the Hagley Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. This location is where E.I. DuPont first began manufacturing gun powder in the early 19th century and was the first industry in his vast empire. The canal runs parallel to the Brandywine River. Water, drained from the canal, rotated water wheels, which in turn, powered the machinery inside the buildings. The building on the left is one of many stone buildings housing equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Nice shot Ken. You've managed the exposure well with the sun filtering through. It looks like a very peaceful place with an interesting history.

I like the composition, exposure, focus, and most everything else, but...that green cast should go.
Try adjusting the WB using something that should be gray, maybe the trim on the roof.

Lovely and peaceful image. I will agree with Dave that it has somewhat of a green cast to it but, I have seen areas like this that actually have a greenish cast due to the reflection of green light from the foliage. However, I tired reducing the green just a tad using NIK Viveza II and the image does seem to improve a bit...

Yes it's the green in the stonework on the end of the building that gives the impression of a colour cast. Not sure it bothers me. This is well captured and has a lovely tranquil feel to it.

A very nice image, ken. I like it!!

I agree about the color cast. Some magenta to correct it. Just a wee little bit of cyan as well.

I also think the overall image is a little on the dark side.

It would also help to get some separation of the building , from the background.



Added some LCE and gama---color corrected---sharpened---saturation with LAB---increased the blacks---added a couple vignettes to change the lighting a little bit and make the building pop from the background.

That's a really nice image, Ken, beautifully lit and composed.

Funny thing. I used to visit Wilmington quite regularly back in the eighties (the american subsidiary of my UK employers was based there), and naturally used to ask what there was to see around there. We were always told "nothing" and would go into Philadelphia, up to Amish country or even down to Baltimore if we had a day off. Never did see this museum. Mind you, Dupont were competitors and were were hardly able to say the word

Very nice image. As for the green; I'm technically inept at post processing so let me just add that with the unusual amount of rain we've had in Delaware this summer everything really IS that green!
