The shot above was taken with an iPhone???
Screw D3000, I am buying an iPhone
I am curious Sahil: How much for an iPhone in India with internet available 24 hours a day ?
You may not know but in October 2010 I am planning a safari for photographers in India and one of my difficulties is to memorize the place we are when travelling abroad.
Yes, I know that a GPS does the job but with an iPhone I could make a picture of Samode Palace for example and remember easily later on, when watching the other pictures shot on location. And the photo has the coordinates embedded.
In fact, when returning home the phone would be of no use but as I planning to visit India more times in the future with people doing photographic safaris...
The new application on the 3Ds called Wikitude is pretty cool.
It tells you where the Hotels, monuments etc are and guides you there with connection to their home page. Have a look please.
Thank you.
Antonio, 3G technology hasn't come up here, in India, properly. If you are fine with GPRS (56 Kbps) Connection, its pretty cheap. For around $10 you can have unlimited access for a month. The rates are different at different places. The internet doesn't come as a part of the regular voice-call plans, the way it does in the USA. (I guess it comes that way in the USA)
Hey Antonio, could you please throw some more light on 'safari for photographers'?
I kinda missed it when I read your post earlier.
And have you been to India before?
I think you are not watching thread started by Antonio, Squared cropped portrait., and non square cropped portraits... They are full of photographs taken by Antonio in India.,
more particularly Rajasthan.......you may see his work in these tread, you will think he is in India not in Portugal., as I have not seen any of his photographs of his country.
Hello Sahil,
The idea is to make a travel for Portuguese photographers, amateurs or/and professionals to go and shoot in India for a couple of days with me because as Ashwin says further on, it looks I am live in his country.
I like India so much that I don't get tired of working on the photos I took there.
More appropriately I would say I like oriental countries very much in spite of the short visits.
Yesterday I was reading that Steve McCurry has been in India about 75 times ! I will not go that often but I would like to.
Please visit my SCPs and nSCPs threads and you will understand better what he meant.
Well Ashwin, thank you for asking.
I had this idea when last time in India. I was so ... what is the word ? ... impressed - that's it - by what I was seeing that I thought a photographic safari/travel would be interesting.
Portugal is just a small country - it has been larger before - and these days with the crisis - dam it - only few people are able to travel. OK I am one of them. Options in life.
When you see what the Portuguese in general pay for a travel to India - just an example - or elsewhere in the Word you see how expensive it is.
But - ah, yes but - these days with internet, modern techs, you have other choices.
We both speak Portuguese as native language, French and English. We can understand and make us understand in Spanish. So... the World is ours. If we are bold. And we are. We always have been. We are not afraid to fly in planes, balloons, cane bridges, whatever.
No, not to terrorist countries. Not that much.
So, as I was saying, we buy the travels abroad, in an European country. We depart from Paris, London, Madrid. In Portugal the prices are high and there is very little choice.
So, are you still there, reading ? Good. So, I have contacted the agency travel and have asked them to arrange a travel for photographers.
I have asked - no answer till today - we would like to go to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Veranasi. Flight from Delhi to Varanasi and then train and bus.
Must: ride camel, elephant, go to a movie in Delhi, travel in Delhi tube, eat well, and sleep in maharajahs palaces. 12 or 13 days.
BE flights from Lisbon and group officially starting from Delhi airport just in case you wish to come along for example.
Prices ? Too early ! But I know they will be very competitive !
When I read the prices well known photographers take for these travels I go crazy and couldn't afford it at all.
Later another travel - in 2011 - to the Portuguese heritage in India with a stay in the beaches of Goa where I have never been.
I want to make a trans continental travel for photographers every year. Burma is also a most. But for 2012 may be.
But you asked for images of Portugal. Here they are from now on. Thank you for reading Ashwin
