Beautiful images Joe... #2 & #3 are my favourites for the clarity and beauty of the wings,,, maybe #3... It's very hard to decide
Beautiful. Sharp Back to front and that isn't easy. 70-300mm?
Technically perfect...
For me two and three are the pick of the four as the fine wind detail and colour is beautifully rendered but all are nice and sharp. Nice work Joe.
Joe, amazing shots. The details are phenomenal . My success with small insects has been abysmal. Think I will try a longer lens approach. Keep up the grew work!
You are welcome Joe. I meant to say Wing not wind.
Hello Rollin, thank you for viewing and commenting. I shoot a lot of birds so my long lens is always on my camera. I find that at the minimum focusing distance of about 5 feet it works well but to keep everything sharp an aperture of f16 is required because of the narrow depth of field.
And these were all shot with a fairly high Iso as well
Hello Geoff, thank you for viewing and commenting. I have to let the ISO go where needed because to hand hold with this lens I need a minimum shutter speed of 1/500 to overcome any camera shake. Bright light lessens any noise from high ISO's, also noise is easy to deal with in post processing where a soft image would go to the bin.
I like numbers 2 and 3. The gold color of the wings is just gorgeous.
