Nicely slightly under exposed background, balanced with on camera flash fill light. The out of focus object in the foreground detracts from the image though.

A delightful image, but I think I might be inclined to crop out some of the distracting background. Maybe a tight square crop on the girls with just a tweak of levels adjustment.

Yep. maybe crop out that chair on the right, and/or as Mike said, close cropping.

Thanks. As far as composition, yes, I know it's terrible. That's something which I hope to start improving. I was happy I could get these two to hold still and look at the camera and have their faces rather than their backs :-)

More so I was curious about the technical aspects. I had a difficult time with the exposure. Trying to keep the background light enough without overexposing the girls. I'm relatively new to photography, and I was really happy with the results, especially when contrasting pictures throughout the years. I wanted some critiques to keep in mind in the future.

The pose of your young subjects is terrific and the fact that you have that intrusive object in the foreground is something that with experience you will spot nine times out of ten. I'm sure most of the members here will admit to a 'why didn't I notice that' moment once in a while however great their experience.
Cropping is an editing tool that used wisely can strengthen a composition, and whilst with experience you will find that you can take photographs with a crop in mind, as a newcomer you might find it useful to play around with the tool to see just how you can change an image with various crops.
I do however recommend that recognise the crop as a tool and not a crutch. You should aim to frame your image as far as is possible with the final result in mind and limit it's use to trimming or changing the aspect ratio to suit.
I can only add that I would have been very pleased with your image, subject as I said in the previous post to a square crop and a slight tweak of the levels.

This shot of these girls is absolutely delightful Muttiblus!

One of the things I noticed about it is that you seem to have a bit of a yellow color cast going on. Good if you like it that way, but in order to make the call you should at least know it’s there.

I think I would go a little tighter even on the crop if it were me! These girls have such a beautiful look I believe I’d bring these pretty faces right on out!
