What a handsome young man! I like this shot very much.
My only suggestion would be to use a reflector off to the side to fill in a bit of the shadows on the left side of his face. Other than that, I really like the lighting and the composition here.
Very nice shot. The lighting is quite dramatic. I would tend to shoot the same way as Kim has suggested; a white reflector just out of the frame camera left to pump in a bit of fill light on the dark side of the face,
Awesome. Classic pose.
Light? I guess they gave some good advice above.
Perhaps, crop left/right side a little. Such that a diagonal line ( passing the tip of his right eyebrow.)
starting from the right bottom corner intersects with the left side top corner of the frame.
Please check out Colin's tutorial about Portraits. I learned a lot from them.

Nice modification.
Thanks JPS.
Excellent classic pose and your final edit brings out the character in his eyes. My only very minor comment would be to avoid small details like the zip pull and the logo at the bottom because they can be slightly distracting. But good work.
Hi Jean,
I like the way you did the first shot. The light is beautiful with no harsh light reflection in his face. His right eye is not buried in darkness and in my opinion it is great.
A very good portrait IMHO. Well done.
I bet his mother was pleased.
Of course, she asked me to send her many prints, as well for his brother shot the same day, I'll show you later. But as newbie I don't know if I need to open a new thread or continue this one ?
Leave the logo and send to Fred Perry. Much better image and model than those on their own website.
Maybe you could offer your services
Another great pose!
Btw, perhaps, keep his whole right elbow in the frame.
And avoid "crab-claws" . i.e. the index-thumb opening. Preferred is they're closed.
Hand positioning is also vital so they don't look larger than his head.
His left hand/arm is ok. Just close his fngers.
But maybe turn his hand/forearm sideways , so the hand looks smaller than his face.
