Nice photo of a nice looking dog.
Now if I could get my cat to pose like that.

Thanks for the comments. Bruce, my dogs don't pose for me, in fact they hate the camera. I've found the best way to capture them is to plant myself in an inconspicuous place in the backyard with my 70-300 lens and just watch for a moment when they react to something or someone outside the yard. I've only been doing this a few weeks so I'm looking forward to getting better at anticipating their movements to get better photos.

Lovely texture in this beautiful dog's coat... I also like to use a long lens when shooting dogs, especially when shooting an unleashed dog outdoors.

I have also found that when shooting travel images (especially in strange lands) staying in one place with a telephoto zoom (I use the 70-200mm f/4L IS for this purpose) and having the subjects come to me is a good technique. And if I can sit down while doing so, that is a great plus because these old joints and muscles get tired rather quickly. Also, since I am six foot two, 220 pounds with a ruddy complexion, I am quite conspicuous while standing up. This is especially true when shooting in areas in which the population is generally smaller in stature and darker in complexion...
