Mike, the most interesting aspect is the polygonal shapes inside and around the neck of the objects on the left and right. Why dont' they show up in the reflection?

Greg: I am so often confused about what does and does not get reflected that I couldn't possibly begin to answer your question with any degree of confidence. I'll really go out on a limb by guessing that the reason the polygonal shapes aren't reflected in the tabletop is that those shapes are not "in" (so to speak) the neck of the glass vessels that are lying down. Instead, those shapes are refractions of objects to the rear -- the horizon line, the vessels to the rear and the shoulder of the vessels that are lying down.

By the way, sorry that I didn't get your joke. I'm not familiar with the term, "set," in the context of the metric system.

As an experiment I would try to use a black or maybe colored (bright or hazy) BG.

About your setup idea: The background of this photo is a light shining through translucent white acrylic toward the subjects and the camera. If I changed the background to anything that is opaque including a white background and made no other change, you might be aware that the background in the resulting photo would be black and the edges of the glass and their reflections would be bright rather than dark. This photo is an example of that.

To use a colored background that appears in the photo as color would require a completely different and much more complicated setup that I have not yet tried in my tiny makeshift studio.

I haven't used the Trans-lum yet, Terry. Probably won't for a long while. I ordered it mostly because you advised that it had been out of stock and I didn't want to risk it being unavailable once I do need it.
