1 1/2 glass vessels

Our local Calumet shops rent equipment on the weekend but charge only for the one business day. This is a holiday weekend in the U.S., so I'm renting a 105mm macro lens for four days for the price of just the one day.

This is the first time I have ever used a macro lens and I'm having a great time with it. This is just one example, but I'm gonna bore you with many more throughout the weekend. I plan to make some images that are realistic and some abstracts using just the macro lens.

Mike, have you ever considered putting things in the vessels. Colored sand........flowers.......whatever comes to mind.

Yes, I have, Steve. That adds another level of complexity pertaining to the setup that I have not yet graduated to and won't for awhile. But I will eventually get there. Thanks for mentioning it!

I think you have the lighting down, just fine. The consistency of your shots, tells me that. Always good, to push and challenge yourself.

I think it would be a stronger comp if you got the one in front sharp and the one in the back not.

Rob: I would never have thought of making the vessel in front the only one that is in focus because that one is so far to the side. I'm still having a difficult time imagining it even after you have suggested it. Thanks for the idea, as I'll give it a try.

For an example look here. No glasses but you get the idea: one sharply focused object in the whole picture can work quite well.
